Ryanair has identified the Boeing 737-800 involved in a depressurisation incident late yesterday as a five-year old example, adding that the twin-jet was serviced a month ago.
A Qantas Boeing 747-400 was forced to make an emergency descent and diversion to Manila on 25 July after a large section of its fuselage separated, resulting in a rapid decompression. The 17-year-old aircraft (VH-OJK) was operating flight QF30 from Hong Kong to Melbourne, and while cruising at 29,000ft (8,840m) suffered "a hole in its fuselage", says Qantas. Pictures show a large hole in the starboard wing-to-body fairing just forward of the wing in the area of the air-conditioning duct intake.
